(I do have to digress for a moment and ask the question..... where do they get these names from? Are they scrabble games that have gone awry?)
At one time seamy and dangerous neighbourhoods, Shoreditch and Spitifields are now trendy, vibrant, colourful and full of life.
They are home to bars, pubs, restaurants, cafes, markets and galleries making it a popular spot for the young and avant garde....
....that includes the hipsters and guys with their "man buns".
It has also become a haven for Street Art artists from London, the UK, Europe, and around the world.
Dipping my toe into the pool, I have learned that there is a difference between "graffiti" and "street art".
The first is defacing, the second is beautifying. So I have been told.
The street art changes quickly and is always evolving.
What may be there one week, may not be there the next week. And vice versa.
Some street artists have followings and their handiwork appears all over the world.
Some are unknown artists and some are garnering a new following.
Some art is topical. This one appeared immediately after Leonard Nimoy passed away.
Some are political.
Some are whimsical.
Some are 3-D.
Some get permission to paint on the walls and do it during the day.
Some are secretive and do it at night.
Like the world famous Banksy! Not only is he elusive, but no one knows who he is.
What amazes me is that London has the most CCTV cameras in the world, so how do the elusive artists do it?
As it is always changing, stay tuned for more......
