The story behind home #3.... A developer had recently converted an historic old lens factory into an apartment and townhouse complex. Very cute and we just loved it.
An investor was in the process of purchasing the unit we were interested in, and, after he took possession we had a contract to rent it from him.
Prior to the landlord's purchase being completed, there was a "snagging list" (punch list) of items that needed to be fixed. This delayed closing the purchase transaction. A bit disappointing, but manageable.
We wanted to move in and agreed to wait while they confirmed the time to get the deficiencies corrected. At this point, what is a couple more days to get a place that we really liked?
It turned out the snagging list and deficiencies were significant.... so extensive, that the purchaser decided to back out of the purchase! Since the "landlord" didn't own it, we couldn't rent it from him. Just like dominoes, both deals fell through - his purchase contract and consequently our rental contract.
So it was back to the House Hunting drawing board again.
Our bad luck has become legendary with the agents that have been working with us. Even they are shaking their heads and appalled at what has happened. (We have an investigation and a potential lawsuit following our trail - which we are NOT getting involved in!)
If it weren't for bad luck, we would have no luck!
Well, I really don't want to say anything, but, I think that maybe I have potentially found us a(nother) home.
I don't want to get too excited or sound too optimistic, or count my chickens before they hatch... because this is the 4th house we've thought we were moving to.... but quite possibly we might maybe have a home that with a little luck, just maybe, fingers crossed, we might get possession of on Monday, November 3rd.
If and when I ever get a set of house keys in my hand, I will either be in shock, or, burst into tears.
